central idea:
A wholesome family gets torn apart after the loss of a parent
After a father is killed by the former employers he worked for, a family must come together to stop the villainous doings of these people, while trying to protect those they love and themselves from the dangers of the world.

Goals for each chapter
Chapter 1- Gary dies, Emily meets the family, Danny meets Henry, Henry dies.
Chapter 2- Emily becomes integrated into family and human society, Holly and Emily meet again but Emily shows she no longer wants to do anything with the lab, Annie and Danny both learn to deal with their grief from Gary's death, Annie joins a shady organization aiming to take down the laboratory, Danny and Darrell develop a deeper friendship with Emily. Introduction of monster mechs.
Chapter 3- Emily meets her sisters again, sisters rebel against laboratory and basically cause its destruction, government becomes aware of labratory's existence, society becomes more chaotic and fearful after attack.
Chapter 4- laboratory organization gets destroyed, family is deeply fractured

Gary's character:
1- comes to terms with his former past, tells Annie the truth about everything, and accepts his punishment/death. (basically he gets over his cowardice and decides to take a stand against the lab for his family, Gary's final words are like: "take care of him Annie, keep Danny safe")
Annie's character
1- learns more about her husband, learns to become more cooperative with robots. (conflicted between trusting her husband or getting mad at him, reveal comes in midpoint)
2- digs deeper into her husbands history to realize who he really is, learns that even though her husband did bad things, their love for one another was true and she can share this through the love she shares with others (mainly Danny and Emily).
3- decides to continue what her husband started and aims to destroy the laboratory, so she continues work with the anti-lab organization (who may or may not have moved to new location)
she may also learn to work with sentient robots and has more respect for them as sentient beings.
4- when leader of anti-lab organization is killed, basically Annie has to kind of step up and take control of the situation to make a final stand against the laboratory. she is conflicted between protecting her family, and protecting everyone else. she may also confront maker of laboratory organization (who may or may not explain his ideals/plans to her, I guess this won't be developed until the main villain is developed himself)


big men cause great problems for little people.

I met children who were forcibly taken from their families, and I did inhuman things to them Annie, and I did what I was told, because I- I was a coward Annie, I thought there was nothing I could do against this, but now, now that's going to change. Because you are with me, and we are going to rescue our son, and this time, I will not shy away from the horrors of what I've done. It's time I come back to where my journey began. Will you help me Annie?
Gary recognizes his cowardice to go against the big peeps of the laboratory and aims to make up for his stuff by actually taking a stand against what the people did.
laboratory succeeds because it encourages scientists to think more about the final product than humanity and ethics of it, also there exists a hierarchy as scientists are on the top, robots down below, and experiments near the bottom.
maybe APLA that Gary knows is the first one to become actively sentient??

we worked on their projects, they demanded us to do it, and who was I to go against some of the greatest minds our world has ever seen? *looks down in shame* I can't believe I was enough of a fool to actually look up to them. I never knew, what scumbags they were until, I was assigned to that project under (Gary's friend). I was treated like a disposable bag, worked to the bone on projects which we didn't even know was being created for. Like gee, why do you want me to figure out how to make a 24 foot long wingspan and place it on a giant monster robot? How is that supposed to help "better" our world? I should've left the day I arrived to that place. I've should've- I should've done more.
