They thought I chose this path or that I had all the answers.
What they’ll never know is that I never chose anything, I didn’t have any choices at all.
My story is a embattled road of heartache, loss and struggle that I somehow overcame.
There were so many times that I wanted to quit and so often, I didn’t think that I would survive the pain that life threw at me..
But that’s the thing about fire, isn’t it?
You either learn to love the burn or it burns you alive.
I didn’t have all the answers- and still don’t- but I know who I am and where I’m going.
I have stars in my eyes and depth in my soul, and nothing will ever change that about me.
The world sees success and they always just assume so much:
That this journey- who i am- my climb to the top-was easy, i was lucky and it just happened.
They couldn’t be more wrong.
It’s not easy and never was...probably won’t ever be.
I still have days where I cry in the shower and moments where I have to wipe away the tears.
But, for every setback I’ve endured, I’ve always made a comeback.
I will always fall, but I’ll keep getting up stronger and wiser.
So, yeah, my success wasn’t overnight and my life’s never been painless..
But they can think what they want because they will anyways.
I don’t owe anything to anyone except to that little girl who struggled to survive..
The same girl who long ago made herself a promise..
“Never again.”
I’ve kept my word and honored that promise-
Each and every day, I’ll keep rising, fighting and most of all,
I’ll keep flying high.
My wings were always meant to soar.
