Christianity as a technological religion

Technology requires and drives centralization
- I think this observation was valid like 200 years ago during the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, but it is no longer applicable. Technology today is driving decentralization. I will detail a few examples:
1) The internet is the most obvious one. When the government was first designing the internet, they needed some sort of mechanism for communication that could not be taken out with a nuclear strike. The solution was a decentralized network of interconnected computer systems that do not refer back to a singular point. The proliferation of the internet has had a profound decentralizing effect.

2) Nationstates -- I don't believe that we can assert that nationstates are moving towards a world state. If anything, I believe there is growing fragmentation in the international arena. The collapse and dissolution of the USSR and Yugoslavia, African decolonization, and the rise of right-wing populism. This fragmentation will only increase as international bodies like the EU and the UN lose legitimacy.
3) News media -- the proliferation of alternative news sites leading to polarization, division, and fragmentation.
4) a general societal fragmentation due to the birth of contemporary capitalism -- civil society is characterized by the competition of private individuals in a marketplace. In antiquity, civil society was a space for the public interest to be realized. Unity of the public became the fragmentation of atomized individuals.
