Even though speedrunning can be fun and enjoyable, there are some things that are enemies to us speedrunners. Like 1 Major enemy is RNG. RNG, which stands for random number generator, is used in games to randomize events. This can prevent a consistent method for accomplishing a task as it is left up to chance. Item Drop rates are a good example. Sometimes an enemy would drop an item, but sometimes they won't. The Mario Party series is another good example! The games are always picking a random set of levels to choose from after each character takes their turn. 1 more example is enemy attack patterns. Enemies in some games, like Paper Mario, will always do attacks in different patterns each battle!

Another enemy for speedrunners are invisible walls. Speedrunners are always trying to figure out how to skip parts of a level, but sometimes, invisible walls get in the way of us doing so. Sometimes speedrunners do find a way of bypassing invisible walls, by finding a spot high enough to jump over the invisble walls, or by clipping through them. If invisble walls didn't exist, we would be completing so many games much faster than ever!
