There’s no denying that Jason Verrett, when healthy, is a very good CB1. The only problem is, he can’t stay healthy. Before this past season, 2015 was the last time Verrett played a full season, which is just crazy. That’s why I don’t think he should’ve gotten more than what the Niners ended up giving him. However, the reason I love this signing is because it’s low risk and high reward. If Verrett suffers another season ending injury, it won’t hurt the Niners all that much, and if he’s able to stay healthy, this will be amazing value. What’s more, this fills a huge need, the Niners desperately needed a CB1. I wouldn’t bet on Verrett staying healthy, but the reward heavily outweighs the risk.
