The biggest need for the Chiefs by far was addressing the offensive line, and they were able to get one of the best available in Joe Thuney. Thuney is both a very good pass protector and run blocker, and he will improve both areas for the Chiefs. Another added bonus is that Thuney can also play center, and with the Chiefs not expected to bring back Austin Reiter, that’ll help. While this will make the o-line much better, I don’t love this signing. I think this money was better spent at tackle rather than interior o-line. The Chiefs released both starting tackles last week and now have none on roster, and I didn’t think their interior o-line was nearly as much of a concern. The Chiefs will definitely end up with two starting calibre tackles, and they have the money to get that, but I feel like they should’ve prioritized that more. I also think it’s a bit of an overpay. That being said, the Chiefs o-line definitely looks much better with Thuney now in the fold, and I still like the move.
