The first connection I made was about how Shackleton and his crew had to work hard navigate the dangerous waters, and even then, they were far behind schedule and got stuck in the ice. This reminds me of our world today where we have to work hard to accomplish something, and even if we work hard, we might not achieve what we wanted to achieve. The next connection I made was about how Shackleton and his crew were stuck in the ice and are waiting until the ice starts to melt, and meanwhile they are very bored, and some of the crew members dislike each other. In another book I read that was called Skeleton Tree, a boy named Chris and his uncle went sailing, along with another boy named Frank, whom Chris dislikes. When their boat sinks and their uncle drowns, Chris and Frank are stranded on an island where they wait for someone to rescue them. This is similar to the event in Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World because the characters have to wait in inconvenient circumstances with people they dislike.
