As an Asian, I feel left out since in Pebblebrook. Black people celebrate each other while white people celebrate black people. I know there aren't many Asians here at Pebblebrook, but I'm an Asian, and not once have I heard somebody else talk about prejudice against Asians. However, I do know that this incident did not involve my race at all, and I do think that it wasn't the teacher's place to talk about such a societal subject during class, and if that teacher didn't bring up the subject, it wouldn't be the students' place either. I did not select Teacher Sensitivity Training because I believe that the kind of sensitivity that the teacher showed lack of is the kind that all humans are supposed to have. I believe that if teachers, full grown adults, were put into a training concerning something that all humans are obligated to have, they would learn nothing but protocol. As humans grow older, they become less malleable and teachable. I believe that teachers should find their own desire to learn about such things on their own, else the teachers wouldn't improve has human beings and only as teachers. I believe that the teacher should be fired as a mercy for her own pride, which would be harmed every time she showed her face in school. From this incident, she would have learned a valuable lesson which she would try to abide by for the rest of her life, but if she were to continue teaching at this school, it may be countered. I believe that the teacher's motive wasn't to spread false information but to educate the students with what she thought was accurate information.
