So he grabs me and holds me by my arm so tight, he's squeezing the shit out and I'm like "I can not go back"... so I just pretend to be, you know, "oh I'm just a fragile Jewish boy... why are you squeezing me so hard... it hurt it hurts, ow ow....." you know? And as soon as he loosens my grip just a little bit, And like in one motion, I kid you not, I don't think I'v ever found this much strength in my life but in this one motion I twist my arm and I'm suddenly free, and I bolt. I mean I bolt the fuck out of there, as fast as I can, I run and run and run, and all i remember is getting to the next station for some reason where .... and I got there faster than the train.... and I'm standing there, huffing and puffing stupidly, you know because I just ran that fast, proud of myself, not realizing that that same train has now arrived, and as soon as it does, the doors open, and he comes out and grabs me again.

So that's how I almost escaped the orphanage.
See we were selling color television before color television was invented. Me and my friend, walking around house to house, we had this business. It was three transparent sheets of plastic, one blue at the top, green in the middle, and brown on the bottom, held together by little pieces of gum. We'd knock on the door, and sell them, putting them on the black and white TVs, and if it was at the right time, and it was the agricultural channel, you know fields and trees, the sky would be blue, the grass would be green and the earth brown, and it would be alright... but if it was a political episode, and there was someone's face, speaking, half of it would be blue, half green, half brown and no one would buy it.
And one time, we got caught, you know, they recognized us and grabbed us and... I knew there's no way I am going back to that hell hole... I just had to leave...
