I've started my career in PR interning backstage at a fashion show and at a non profit event doing social media for a freelance project manager, and was able to take on more responsibilities beyond managing social media, that was
what helped me land a postion as a client relations assistant. Although my postion was unique at the time, we did have help with PR firms but resorted to doing most of the PR ourselves. So when I was hired I had to quickly teach myself the basis of using Cision, writing pitches for email marketing campaigns, taught myself graphic design to dish out the visual product campaigns for the brand, learned how to make press sheets, some of which
were in their social media page. I then left that job so that I can focus soley on heightening my skills in PR, so I started my first internship with a PR firm that represented clients from different fields from restaurants, to lawyers, fine and performance artists, and non-profit organizations. After the end of that internship I found myself back in Fashion
as a PR intern. That experience helped solidify my organizational and coordination skills since I was juggling with work from multiple brands at once, I gave myself and my team who interned with me a system to stay organized and prioritize important tasks. That experience really geared me up to work at the last position I was in. I mentioned that due to covid they had to lay off their freelance team. But since then Ive been doing some freelance work on Upwork mainly just PR tasks like making media lists, press sheets, and on my downtime I drafted mock pitches, press releases, and signed up for remote learning courses.
