Hepatit B insidansı, hepatit B'li hastalar için sık test yapılması, hepatit B pozitif olan diyaliz hastalarının izolasyonu, tek kullanımlık ekipmanların kullanımı, hepatit B aşısı ve infeksiyon kontrol önlemleri ile azalır. Sepsis, en sıklıkla damar giriş alanlarının infeksiyonu ile ilgilidir. Bakteriyel endokardit uzun süreli kateter girişimi nedeniyle oluşabilir. Aseptik teknik bu sorunu önlemek için şarttır. Hasta. ateş, hipotansiyon, lökosit seviyesinde yükselme gibi sepsis belirti ve bulguları için izlenmeli- dir.
