always keep the side where the character is looking from and to consistent (character looks from right to left; let that same character always look from right to left in that scene)
contrast creates focus (if you see white on the left, black on the right, you will be looking at the middle where they meet)
more hand motion = more energy
wide shots to show choreography, cut to close shots to show facial expressions, etc to ramp up intensity
you can add nice infrared effects by duplicating the clip, put it on screen blend mode, and zoom it in and add it to the original
FOCUS = IMPACT: ex: long shot --> fast shots --> long shot (fast shots tell story)
flashing invert effects (on and off) can blend two shots (with same position during music video) together
jump shots are best done by 3s
you always want the editing to be smooth and not throw you off guard
sound is more important than visuals, so make the sound match
wide shots (of a lone dancer) help emphasize the suddenness when dancers come out of nowhere
dolly zoom - where the background seems like it's not part of the rest of the clip (like 2 flat pictures)
