#Eagles - I do think there’s a chance Carson Wentz bounces back, but I don’t think it would’ve been with the Eagles. Wentz reportedly didn’t want to play for the Eagles, and the team is just a mess right now. I thought it made sense to trade him if they got a good offer, and that’s what happened. They will suffer through a massive dead cap hit next season, but since they aren’t competing anytime soon, I don’t think it’s a big deal. What matters is that he’ll be off the books after next season, and they get good draft capital for him. If Wentz does work out with the Colts, they’ll get a first round pick for him next year, which is huge. That would allow them to either build up the roster or potentially trade for a franchise QB if Jalen Hurts isn’t the answer. If Wentz doesn’t work out, the Eagles will likely end up with only a 2nd round pick, and if Wentz doesn’t succeed with the Colts, I don’t think he would’ve succeeded anywhere. Therefore, the Eagles get a 2nd round pick without giving up a valuable asset, which is still a win. A concrete first round pick would’ve been a lot better, but this is the best they could’ve done, and I think it was worth it for the Eagles.
