esophagus - passageway of the food

we have different kinds of teeth that work together, and these are the:
incisors - normal looking teeth that are used for cutting food, to get a portion of the food that you are eating
canines - sharp, fang-like teeth which are used for tearing and piercing
premolars (bicuspid) and molars - [i didn't get to take note :(]
different salivary glands:
parotid gland, sublingual gland, submandibular gland
these glands help break down starch because they contain an enzyme called amylase
these glands also contain antibodies such as lysozyme and IgA (immunoglobulin-A) which help destroy bacteria that attempt to enter our body
pancreas
- releases enzymes that break down all kinds of digestible food including fat, carbohydrates and proteins
- it is a triangular gland that extends across the abdomen
liver
- largest gland in the body
- four lobed organ
- produces bile which contains bile salt that aids the digestive process
- it doesn't have enzyme but it emulsifies fats
different macromolecules: carbohydrates, proteins and lipids
enzymes: biological molecules that speed up the rate of chemical reactions
