Contract Details: 5 years, $105M ($21M per year) + $71.2M guaranteed
This contract extension starts in 2021, keeps Jalen Ramsey in LA through 2025, and makes him the highest paid cornerback in the league. Signing Jalen Ramsey to an extension was a priority for the Rams. Not only did they trade away two 1st round picks to get him, but he’s also a huge part of their team. With Ramsey having so much leverage, there was no doubt that Ramsey was going to get a deal this big. While he is coming off a down year, we’ve seen him play like a lockdown top three corner, and that’s what the Rams are hoping for. If he gets to that level again, he will be worth this contract. However, the Rams don’t have a lot of cap space at all. This was a move they absolutely had to make, but this likely won’t be an easy contract to afford. It’s far from a bad contract, but I don’t think it was a great one either.

Last season, Jalen Ramsey started in 11 out of 12 games (781 snaps) and had 50 tackles, 1 interception, 5 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and a 3.8% missed tackle rate. In coverage, he allowed 45 completions on 68 targets (66.2%) for 549 yards (45 ypg) and one TD. He allowed 12.2 yards per completion, 8.1 yards per target, 2.2 yards after catch per completion, and an 89.6 passer rating. PFF gave him a decent grade of 71.5.
