Notes - notes.io

I think the main emotion you're feeling right now is simply confusion. I think all your problems sort of fall under that category (and other emotions too).

How about you create a formula. A simple, neat, perfect guide for you to follow with unerring determination and discipline. Seriously. It'd be something like the "life" formula. Or, the "day" formula. What to do. EXACTLY what to do, in that order, a list of procedures. We'd keep track of small daily things (practice music) and bigger things that might not happen as often (like study for the ACT). Honestly Adam, I really don't think you're as surrounded and bogged down as you think you are. You just need to SIT DOWN, carefully process what's stressing you out, and figure out this formula. It won't even be that much. Seriously. Trust me.

I don't know if it should really be in a schedule/checklist format... which mom tried (and it didn't really work). Also just throwing some basic objectives on a sheet of paper sounded better... and I think that's getting towards where we want to be for sure. But that didn't work either. The problem could simply be that you're not constantly thinking about checking in, and getting the stuff done. That's simply just a habit that needs to be formed. Seriously, getting SUPER intentional, precice, and methodical is going to be ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL this year. You literally won't be able to get stuff done. Function, even. So keeping that in mind, a formula needs to be developed.

To start off real basic, let's list a few things (worries, things you consistently need to do/get done... write these with a full on SCHOOL SCHEDULE in mind. (Not a Covid summer break schedule.) However, later, we'll come up with a list for wrapping up these last couple of days. (The "Bumper Schedule.) That won't be nested under the formula, but we'll make it rock solid perfection. Actually, it makes sense to get that done first. We'll do the formula after.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< BUMPER SCHEDULE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Planning will start first.

To start off, what do you need to do, specifically to get ready for school, or any classes? (I know you have stuff for math for example.) This is small stuff. Don't worry about big stuff (ACT, etc.)

* Get some basic supplies
> Calc up and running (old w/batteries or new)
> Mechanical Pencil Pack
> Computer (get loaner at school)
* Prepare for math
> Algebraic atrocities
> Practice tests
> I also think I should do this -----> https://www.khanacademy.org/math/get-ready-for-precalculus
...obviously I can't do it all before, but we could do a unit a day and get some of it done.
* You could start doing a little overview of previous spanish units (quizlet). But actually I think that falls in the same category as the Khan precalc review... more of a long term thing.
* I also think you should go over a few gig book songs + pieces from last year
* Organize school stuff from last year, USE FILING CABINET FOR OLD USEFUL PAPERS

Ok, now think about general things. Mostly one time things to do before school hits.

* Organize dresser (stay strong, my friend)

Ok that wasn't too bad. Now we create the schedule. We'll mix in more day to day repetitive tasks now (music practice, exercise). Reminder of the days we have until Monday:
> FRIDAY
> SATURDAY
> SUNDAY
Three full days. Not bad, but also not a lot of time AT ALL. Ok... here we go.

--------------------------- FRIDAY -----------------------------
1. Morning routine
> Wake up (9:30 at latest.)
> Bathroom routine (brush, hair, etc.)
> BREAKFAST
2. Go through ALL school stuff. Most of it is in your closet.
Two hours should be good enough. (End 12:00.)
> This includes your backpack which needs to be organized.
> See what supplies you have/need.
> File/organize old school work, especially math. Good
resource.
3. Practice piano 30 minutes.
> 15 min break for tea + book.
5. Practice cello 30 minutes.
> Remember gig book.
> 15 min break for tea + book.
6. LUNCH AROUND HERE.
6. It's about 2:00 now. Do about an hour of math until leaving for practice @ 3:00.
> Priority: Algebraic atrocities.
> Move on if you can.
7. PRACTICE (3:00 - 4:45)
> Includes personal exercise.
8. Finish school work.
> 1 unit on Khan (precalc review)
> Gloss over spanish quizlet stuff
9. Should be 6:00 by now. You're free to go. Seriously, nothing left to do.
However, NO YT vids. I would work on GMail Sort. Read. Ask about Logic.
