dear diary,
A few years ago I lived on an island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean with her parents and 16-year-old younger sister, I was 18 and graduating in 5 months . One day my sister started hanging out with the wrong crowd and started drinking and doing drugs at a very young age, in fact such a young age she became addicted. she will always go out "for a walk". that was her excuse every time she went to see another dealer. One night she went out, but never returned. There was a huge search party, but still, no one could find her corpse or any evidence of murder or a kidnapping. after three months of searching my parents and I had completely given up on it. we were so mentally and physically tired. And after all, I had to focus on my school so I could graduate, and my parents had enough to worry about with their work and bills. I couldn't believe that in a few weeks I would be flying across the sea to the USA! Harvard was where I'm headed. finals were soon. I couldn't risk my life for my sister's random disappearance. what if she was okay!? what if it was all part of a sick joke!! and either way I would be back in five years anyway.

dear diary,
I graduated from collage!! I'm so excited about what this new life will bring to me. I wasn't excited about going back to the island. I couldn't stand my parents constantly yelling and fighting with each other for no reason at all. sometimes I just think they just wanted to yell at someone because they needed to cool off and scream and cry for a couple of hours because of what happened to my sister. sometimes they would yell at me for being on the back deck to late at night. I knew they were scared for me but I also knew I could take care and defend myself.

dear diary,
I'm home now, this town has turned gray. I don't know what happened when I was gone. it's like a cloud is always just floating up above the island. it was a lot different then from when I lived here as a child, the school, when I was a child, was a pastel pink. Now it was a depressing gray and wite. the old cafe, where my friends and I would hang out at after school as children, was now a small police station for this side of the island, the biggest one is 3 miles away from the old cafe. the old bounce you, the one all my friends had a birthday party at at least once, turned into a gas station that the kids that didn't graduate hung out at. it was also the gas station that has been robbed so many times people don't even care anymore
