Notes

Bachelor thesis dealing with the history of the former village and now part of the town Vyškov, Opatovice. It is focused mainly on the period of the second world war because during this period the village was occupied by German forces.
I divided this thesis in six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. I put some reasons why I had chosen this topic. The second chapter contains some geographical information and the history of the village in general. The next chapters are about the second world war period when the village was occupied and the people had to leave from their houses. The village started to be a place for military training. These chapters contain interviews of the people who were living there. For example one old lady told me about her family which had to leave from their house and she describe how the village looked like - a lot of houses were destroyed and in the others were living some military people. The next chapter is focused on the life after the war when the people came back to their houses. The penultimate chapter is focused on fighter pilots who were fighting in the battle of Great Britain but they were from Opatovice. One of this men is very famous. The last one is about sources I have used for the thesis.

The most important source for me was the chronicle which I found in an archive. There were 5 chronicles which contains history from 16 to 20 century.

The other one was a book called, ztracene domovy" which contains history about villages which were occupied near the town Vyskov, but the problem is that there were almost nothing about Opatovice because is a very small place and there live about 300 inhabitants.

The other one was a book about the pilots. This book was written by one historian from Vyskov and the book told about the pilots who was living in the area around and they went to fight against German to Great Britain.
