I love this contract extension. Marlon Humphrey is only 24 years old, and he has already established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the game. However, there's a good chance that Humphrey gets even better than he already is. In my opinion, he's already arguably a top five cornerback, and he got what he was worth. He has a good chance of outperforming this contract. This extension also doesn't kick in until 2022, so it'll be worth less money by then. The Ravens should have no problem affording this contract. If there is one concern, it's that he's going to be 30 on the last year of his deal, and who knows how good he'll be by then. Other than that, this is a perfect contract extension. Extending Marlon Humphrey was something that had to be done, and getting it done early will only benefit the Ravens. Another great move by this front office.
So far this season, Marlon Humphrey has started in all 3 games (202 snaps) and has 14 tackles, 1 interception, 4 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, and a 12.5% missed tackle rate. In coverage, he has allowed 11 completions on 21 targets (52.4%) for 131 yards (44 ypg) and no TDs. He has allowed 11.9 yards per completion, 6.2 yards per target, 5.1 yards after catch per completion, and a 51.9 passer rating. His target accuracy ranks 34th in the league. He has played 42.1% of his snaps in the slot. His PFF grade is currently 67.0.
