Contract Details: 3 years, $27M ($9M per year) + $18.35M guaranteed
This contract extension starts in 2021, keeps Demario Davis in New Orleans through 2023, and makes him the 15th highest paid linebacker in the league. He’ll be making $2.3M in the first year of the contract extension. Demario Davis was a top five linebacker last year out of nowhere, and he definitely did not get paid like a top five linebacker. That makes sense, considering Davis had a career season at 30 years old and will be 34 at the end of this extension. I highly doubt Davis will be a top five linebacker by then. However, all he has to do is be a good linebacker to be worth what he got. The best thing about this contract is how low his 2021 cap hit is. With the Saints likely in cap hell in 2021, that was a very smart move. Davis will definitely outperform that by a wide margin. For a team that needs it, this was a perfect, team-friendly contract extension.

In coverage, Davis had 12 passes defended and allowed 49 completions on 72 targets (68.1%) for 313 yards and 1 TD. He allowed 6.4 yards per completion, 4.3 yards per target, 3.8 yards after catch per completion, and a 75.8 passer rating.
