Adam Film yapımcılığında ilk bölümü 19 Eylül 2010 Pazar günü Star TV'de yayımlanmıştır. Başrol oyuncusu Erdal Beşikçioğlu'dur. Yardımcı oyunculardan bazıları ise İnanç Konukçu, Fatih Artman, Berkan Şal ve Seda Bakan'dır. Güven Kıraç da konuk oyuncu olarak bazı bölümlerde rol almıştır. Akıllı İşaretler Sembol Sistemi'ne göre 1. sezon 7 yaş ve üzeri, 2. ve 3. sezonlar için 13 yaş ve üzeri için uygun görülmüştür. 3. sezonda dizinin yayın saati 23.00'e alınıp bölüm süreleri kısaltılmıştır. Ayrıca, Star TV resmî sitesinde diziyi sansürsüz izleme imkânı da verilmiştir.
1. sezonun ardından Behzat Ç. Seni Kalbime Gömdüm adlı sinema filmi çekilmiş, bu filmin çekimleri dizinin 2. sezonunun gecikmesine yol açmıştır. 3. sezonun ardından 1 Kasım 2013'te serinin ikinci sinema filmi olan Behzat Ç. Ankara Yanıyor vizyona girmiştir. Dizinin 6 yıl aradan sonra çekilen 4. sezonu BluTV'de yayımlanmıştır. Önceki sezonlara kıyasla daha kısa olan ve önemli kadro değişikliklerinin yaşandığ bu sezon, 19 Eylül 2019 tarihinde final yapmıştır.
