it started quite quiet and then gradually got louder and faster in the strings which added suspense and also a sinister feeling. then there were call and response between the strings and the flutes which gives some contrast. the soloist started quie slow and then got faster which made it sound sinister then when the orchestra joined in it was allot more quiet adding some contrast and made it sound quite pleasant and less suspenseful in my opinion. after this when the soloist had another part by himself it buildt up again then got calmer and quieter which seems to be quite common in this peice.

syncopation is emphasis of offbeat notes in a rhythm

the strings started quite quiet and gradually gets louder. there is some syncopation which adds a sense of suspense and a higher amount of energy especially as the tempo increases. the use of the minor key also adds suspense. the fanfares create a suspense also. after the sound sort of explodes it has a short amount of the use of the major key. it was almost a call and response between the orchestra. the pianist starts in the minor which means its still sinister and is also quite calm. then it gets faster and the orchestra accompanies the pianist. as the tempo increases, a high energy and suspense and contrast are created.
