Once, Sara was just an average schoolgirl with a normal life. She didn't have outstanding grades or a great social standing, though was ultimately content- since even if her life was nothing but outwardly average, to her at least, she at least had other enjoyments... Even when a stalker began to appear with more frequency and her nights became filled with sleeplessness, her life only came to change when she arrived home one night alongside her best friend, Joe Tazuna- only for her to discover her mother laying lifelessly on the floor and to eventually get kidnapped alongside him by a unknown assailant.
And so began the death games. After completing a bizarre trial that almost resulted in her own death, the two would eventually find the rest of the participants and began to figure out about their imprisonment. In that short amount of time, she began to slowly trust the strangers around her- but forced to endure their deaths, including that of the man who stalked her and Joe himself, who in the end she was forced to watch die in front of her eyes. After the first trial, she suffered hallucinations of her friend and crippling guilt- and once again had to watch more friends die at her feet, including the innocent life of Kanna. And then...

Sara just remembers feeling better for the first time in a long time. Despite the glares from one of her fellow participants and the mentions of someone named Joe, who she could only assume to be a victim of a previous trial.
