Edvards painting of The Scream was a huge success all around the world, it carries quite an overwhelming meaning to it. What inspired Edvard to make such a piece and by how he came to put it together was defiantly fascinating too. Edvard shows us an honest, even ugly, glimpse of his inner troubles and feelings of anxiety through his painting The Scream, putting more importance on personal meaning than on technical skill or “beauty,” a goal of art. He uses dark colors to represent his emotional reactions to the environment. Further more, Edvard commences on the "red" sky and the "bluish black" fjord and describes it as an all-consuming hole that's sucking the subject (not identified as man or woman) into it. Edvard was inspired to make this while on an evening out walking by the water, This might sound relaxing and enjoyable at first but on closer look we see that Munch is really describing a moment that's completely opposite of what you imagine. He changes the reality completely in an incredible way through art and turns it into something utterly different and murky. Lastly, mentioning the true meaning behind the title "The Scream", it comes to the ugly, even hideous, sounds of living beings undergoing both physical and emotional suffering in the modern age. This painting expresses so much feeling and power into it, that even by looking at it you'll know its true meaning. Many people can relate and this is one of the main reasons why its been so successful all around the world.
