One of the most common disorders in Japan is depression. According to the National Survey in Japan, the number of people with depression increased dramatically from after 1984. Although depression is usually more common in women, in Japan the largest number of sufferers was for middle-aged men "between 40 and 60" and this also applies to suicide rates. The largest number of men who commit suicide was in the middle-aged. It is believed that this is because most men are heads of family and are also busy with work. They do not have the opportunity to visit a psychologist even if they feel psychological pressure. Also, suicides are associated with a kind of existential suffering. Recently analyzes of the suffering of individuals in society have been conducted, and the results have shown that the phenomenon of suicide is closely related to Japanese concepts of self, existence and life after death.
