Atatürk’ün müzikle ilgili çarpıcı görüşü şu cümleleriyle anlaşılıyor: “Hayatta musiki lazım değildir. Çünkü hayat musikidir. Musiki ile alakası olmayan mahlukat insan değildir. Musiki hayatın neşesi, ruhu, süruru ve her şeyidir.”

Atatürk, her türlü yenilik ve ilerlemede öncü olma görevini üstlenen bir liderdi.Atatürk, yeni müzik kurumlarımızın açılmasında da öncülük etmeyi sürdürmüştür. Onun sayesinde Osmanlı zamanından kalma mevcut müzik aletlerini iyileştirmiş,modernleştirmiş ve gelişmiştir. Bunların yanı sıra, kapatılan kurumların yerine çağdaş uygarlık seviyesine uygun ve ulusal müzik anlayışımıza yakışır yeni müzik kurumları açılmıştır.
