Bruno , a nine year old boy living in a luxurious mansion in Germany, Berlin in 1943 , comes home one day to find his family's maid (Maria) packing away his things . his rich and beautiful mother tells him that they are moving houses and Bruno hates that idea . He doesn't want to leaves his friends in Berlin so his mother explains that they have to move because of his fathers job . Gretal is Bruno's sister , they always fight and disagree but for once when they moved to the house called out-with they both thought that out-with was a horrible place to live in. Bruno and Gretal don't know what his fathers important job is and they start t0 wonder what it could be and why it is secret...that is all I read up to.
