The star's life cycle
Stars are like living things they are born,live a life,then they die.
Nebula: A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust that spread an immense volume.
Gravity: Gravity can pull some of the gas and dust in a nebula together.
The Nebular Theory: The sun and planets formed from a rotating disk of gasses and dust.
Protostar: The earliest stage of a stars life. A star is born when the nebula contracts gas and dust and becomes so dense and hot that nuclear fission starts.
The life of a span star
A stars mass determines how long it will live. A low-mass main-sequence star uses its fuel slowly and eventually becomes a small dwarf. Small-mass stars live longer lives than low-mass stars.
Low-mass star life-cycle
Low-mass stars like the sun take billions of years to use up all of their fuel.
High-mass stars quickly evolve into brilliant supergiants.
Red giant: As they start to run to fuel, their outer layers begin to expand and become red giants.
Planetary nebula: The outer parts grow larger and drift out into space, forming a glowing cloud of gas called a planetary nebula.
White dwarf:The blue-white core of the star left behind and becomes a white dwarf.
Supergiant: When a supergiant runs out of fuel,it can explode suddenly into a supernova. The remains come back and either become a black hole or a neutron star.
Neutron stars: Remains from a supergaint exploding the materials form a neutron star. They are also the remains of high-mass stars. They are smaller and more dense than white dwarfs.
Black holes: A black hole is an object with gravity so strong light cant even escape. After a very massive star dies in a supernova explosion, the gravity of this mass is so strong that the gas becomes dense and packs.
