Transmedia storytelling:

Transmedia is a method in which a story is foretold throughout multiple platforms using existing technologies that is used in today's world. Transmedia is introduced by Henry Jenkins, who is the author of Convergence Culture. Transmedia method is an emerging topic in today's society. An example of transmedia would be Star Wars and The Matrix. The Matrix is foretold through the big screen, and extends to multiple platforms like gaming consoles. A three live action film, comic books and video games exist for The Matrix Universe. Once the individual finishes the story on the live action film, they can expand their knowledge into the comic books and also play the games that are involved with The Matrix. Another example would be the X-Men universe where there are quite a few games that expand on the existing stories of their characters.

Transmedia is an important topic in this class because as our knowledge for comic book rises, we are bound to experience transmedia sooner or later. An example would be the Marvel universe, where an individual could finish the whole series for the live action films and the comic books, but in order to know more about the universe they have to expand their knowledge to the video games as well.

subculture (p.1)

The word subculture derives from the word "Culture". Culture is a word that describes languages, an individual's ethnicity, a cuisine from a country, artwork and many more. Subculture hails from its parent word. It can be used to describe and identify characteristics and details regarding a group of people. An example of subculture would be fandom. Comics can be identified as a culture, while fandom can be a characteristic of comic. Many individuals are identified as a fan or fandom, as they are known to be very interested in anything comic related. Subculture can also be melted in more specific points, such as Captain America's fandom or Thor's fandom. For example, while an individual may be interested in Comic Books, they can also be part of a fandom, and pinpointing which character's they are a fan of.

In our studies and readings for this class we have learned that subcultures exist in comic books. While individuals are greatly interested in Comics, they can be considered as part of the fandom while some are specifically a fan of a Comic book character. They may be very interested in that character that they go above and beyond to know the ins and outs.

cultural repertoire (p.12)

Cultural repertoire are skills, qualitative/quantitative data and symbols that give groups and individuals develop strategies for exertion. The theory of cultural repertoire, they say, that its culture has a significant impact on specific instances and etiquette by dispensing resources or routine on an individual. An example would be skills of the individual, how they understand their work, culture, religion and last but not least, practices.

An example of cultural repertoire would be how an individual lives from day to day. They may start their day with stretching first, then getting ready for the gym, come back home, rise then go to work. This routine may clear the individual's mind by waking up with enthusiasm to start their day.

Cultural repertoire is very important for this class because it relates to the studies that we have been doing. We can implement this technique and use it into our assignments, as well as quizzes and tests by training our minds to be prepared, to understand the course, as well as implement our own ideas into our work. We can also use this skill to have an impact on our grades, based on the readings, classes and outline we have read and attended. This can also be used in day to day life, as we develop strategies to make our lives easier, basic things like cooking for example.

grounded theory approach (p.4)

Grounded theory approach is a process that has been implemented that can be applied to researchers and scientists' theme investigation. By implementing such skills, the method was used to create and promote the confirmed hypothesis.
While the investigators look over the data that was formed, consciousness and understanding of the idea and concept emerges, resulting in analyst tags that they use to implement into their research. They use a language of codes, simplifying the hypothesis or the theory that can summarize their findings in order to have an accurate result. These codes can be arranged by class, examined, then re evaluated as more details are acquired.

Grounded theory approach is very important in this class because aspiring authors as well as other careers, can use this to inspire and create new ideas that they can implement on their art in the future. For example, they may investigate non-fiction descriptions about what is happening in the real world and build ideas from that description. Such as these that Superhero powers in the comic came to be, examples would be like Captain America, who started off as a very weak person but made a Super Soldier, inspiring others.

imaginary world (p.6)

The imaginary world is an idea, or concept that inhabit a person's mind. The brain of a human being is powerful, clashing with consciousness, vision and ideas. When a person "imagines", they can envision a place, time, a non living thing, a living thing and so forth. The brain is significantly affected by that person's surroundings. For example, when the individual watches a television program, they may carry these ideas into their sleep, in turn dreaming of that television show. An idea is very contagious, when you implement it in a person's head, the natural curiosity of human beings arises, and they will stop at nothing to satisfy the need for knowledge.
Another examples would be superheroes. Though they do not exist in real world, they exist in an imaginary world that was implemented in an individual's mind. Much like Iron Man, who is living in a fantasy or rather imaginary world, is a very wealthy multi-billionaire that has the brain exceeding the regular intelligence quotient. He can create robots, nano technology, powerful blasters that do not exist yet and the ability to implement an idea that would travel back and forth into the past, present and the future.

The imaginary world relates to this class because we are studying fictional characters, as well as fanfictions. The evolution of the imaginary world residing in individuals is a very powerful tool and have seen such results. Marvel is a very prime example of would be results, as shown that throughout time and time again has made such an impact on people.

direct individual action (p.2)

Direct action is a word that developed as a term for political advocates that use their power (this may be in a form of economic or physical form) to reach a conclusion of regard. For example, individuals may divulge an ongoing problem, using violence, to voice out an opinion or to exibit and display the alternate way to solve the problem.

For instance, when Captain America and Iron Man had a conflict of interest in The Avengers: Civil War, their team members divided, and in turn using violence as a means of solving the problem. Captain America knew that Bucky, a Marvel character, killed Iron Man's parents. Captain America hid the fact that he knew this from Iron Man, and in turn Iron Man wanted to kill Bucky but Captain America wanted to protect his friend. Iron Man said that if he ever got in the way, he would come for him as well.

Direct individual is a very important term in this class because as we dive into the Comic book world, there is always an ongoing problem that characters have to solve. As stated above, a prime example of this would be Captain America and Iron Man in Civil War. They tried to talk it out, but they did not meet end to end and resulted in a conflict, which in turn they solved it using violence.

fandom (p. 3)

A fandom, or a fan, is a very keen individual who shows very high level of interest in an artist, a comic, a band, and much more.
A would be example is a person who is a "fan" of comic books. These individuals, or rather fans, do not miss out on the work of a comic book creator. They know every easter eggs, powers, personality, character development and many more. They go above and beyond to purchase merchandise, go to events such as Comic Con. Comic con is a prime example of the very word fandom. Individuals show their interest and fandom by dressing up as their favorite Superhero characters, being in character, and many more.

Fandom's exist in every culture, whether it be media related, or any other. Musical artists have individuals who are a fan of their work, actors and actresses, food, technology, games and so much more.

Fandom relates to this class because of the studies we have made in class about comic books. We learned that Marvel has a big audience, ranging from little children to adults. There are a lot of individuals who look up to Superheroes, who purchase products related, as well as organizations and conventions that have been formed strictly on fandom.

source of inspiration (p. 3)
A source of inspiration comes from the consciousness of an individual. This may help improve, stimulate ideas, implement an action or push on a scheme. For example, a musical artist may find themselves with writers block (the act of not being able to come up with words for their songs) from time to time. They may want to go out for a quick break, go on a long walk, listen to other musicians, watch a movie, television programs and much more. During those times they took a break, they may come up with an idea that they saw, or heard and then implement it in their work. As such, the writers block is gone and they can resume their art. Another example that would be source of inspiration is a future business owner. They may work for a company and decide that this is not what they wanna do for the future, so they take the extra step to resign, learn about the way businesses work and in the future be his own boss.

Source of inspiration is very important for this class, not only for musicians but as well as many other careers, such as being an author. An author may come up with an idea of a new Superhero, their stories, character development as well as many others. They may choose to implement new ideas, remove existing procedures, or add into.

strategy of action (p.12)

A strategy of actions comes in many forms. In business, the team members, as well as the managers may implement what they call a "strategy of actions" into their marketing, as well as their sales schemes. In a way, Tom Holland is known for his "spoilers" as he showcases numerous times what happens to Endgame. He went on a live video call, and publicly opened a poster and showed it to the camera, but did not see that it was a classified item. On interviews, he has shown multiple times on air that when he starts talking, he unknowingly spoils the movie. This is a very genius marketing scheme, as well as strategy of action by making the audiences look forward to the product, making them excited about the upcoming movie, pre ordering tickets, talking about it on social media and much more.

You can relate it to the class by using the strategy of action as a very important tool that will help many individuals. Not only do they implement free marketing, they can also make your company flourish. They also help with ideas for authors, such as with Marvel of how Tom Holland's personality and character is, whether it is intentional or not as the company saw the results and impact on Comic books and related medias.
