I want to be in this program because this is a really good opportunity for me and my future, this is a really great thing that you guys are doing. I want to become successful and become a better and smarter person, and if I am in this program I'll have a mentor to keep me on track and make sure that I make it to college. I am very appreciative about this opportunity and I won’t let you guys down.

What is your favorite subject? Why?
I study many different subjects in school but history has always been my favorite subject. Why? you might ask, well first let me start by telling you I found my love for history last year in 7th grade. My Social Studies teacher always taught me things that I was actually interested in like Greek Mythology, the Roman Empire, and the Declaration of Independence. I have many reasons why History is my favorite subject because I excel in this subject. I like the fact that I can learn about why this world is the way it is.Recently I learned what juneteenth was about how it was the day slavery was abolished I never knew what juneteenth was so when I found out what juneteeth was and how black people celebrated it I was very happy. Not all history is good but you going to always need to know about your history

Every person goes through their share of something that has hurt them and has changed your perspective on life, i’m going to tell you about something that has made me take a second look at life. I’m afraid if one of my brothers or father walks out that door they may never come back, I know everyone has been going through alot during this pandemic. Some people lost family members others have been losing their jobs. But this pandemic has also impacted kids, and teenagers as well. It’s hard getting on this computer every day not interested, having no energy to deal with this work. It;s not because I'm lazy or I probably just don’t want to do the work. It's stressful having 6 assignments due before the end of the week but also having to keep your grade intact.
