So basically in chapter 17 Ben ordered a package of animal things he had that are from tucson,It was filled with rocks,snakeskin and lots of other stuff he had.But then he opens it and his excitement went down,he said it didn't feel the same,like it was a past life.So then he decides to go talk to Ms tibbets about it.Then when he gets there Mrs tibbets is with her sister in law and a very tall lady named Adela Garret who is ms Tibbets sister in law tabitha real estate agent.Then Mrs Tibbets invites a man named Hank lindsey who seemed to get along with ben in a short amount of time.Then Ms tibbets talks to Mr lindsey and he talks about how tabitha maybe can't build on this part of the vernal pool.Then Ben and ms Tibbets and Mr Lidnsey start to go to the vernal pool but stop on several paths.Then Ben gets there,and it's no vernal pool,he can't believe it.it's completely dried up.Its just a little dip with rocks around it.Then Mr Lindsey starts examining the pool like a doctor.Then Ben asked him what he thinks.He says it's a vernal pool for sure.Then Ms Garrett insist That how can he spot out a pond when there is nothing there.Then Mr Linsdey says he has no other option so he lets the builders take it.Then ben ask can he hold them off until we get the proof.Then Ms Garrett and tabitha and mrs tibbets have a little conflict.Then Mr linsdey says it will be hard to document spadefoot toads.Then Ms Garret ask is there anything to prevent the sale,mr Linsdey responds with no.Ms Linsdey has nothing he can do to prevent the sale which causes Ben and Ms Tibbets to be angry and disappointed.Mr Linsdey leaves now and Ben is now sad.Now Ben is trying to get answers to why she did this.He then ask Ms Tibbets “would your husband sell this land” she replies with “No he loved this land” Then Ben asks “Doesn't she love it too”,She replies with “you'd think so,She grew up on it”.Then Ms Tibbets explains how she tried to Remind her of that.Then Ben gets a idea from her explanation.”She grew up on it”.Then Ben asks where are the old pictures she has that she was going through a while ago,She responds with on the dining room table,He runs to go get them.Then he brings them back into the kitchen and dumps them onto the table.Then he looks at the photos and realizes there is a rock in the photo,the same one Ms Tibbets and Ben sat on next to the vernal pool.He also sees Thomas and Tabitha holding an american toad in the photos.Then he flips the photo over to see “Tom,Me and the overtoad.Then he says,Tabitha and the overtoad.He asks Ms tibbets “this is tabitha,Isn't it?Ms Tibbets replies with yes surely.Then Ms tibbets and ben have a talk.On bens way out he says “maybe the overtoad will save us”Now 2 days later on a hot sunday.Ben is leading Jenny and Ryan down the path from his house.Ryan and Jenny start to make jokes about each other while Ben is looking for everything in his list.Ben looks at his list,He needs to make sure to show everything he can in his report.By 15 minutes Ben and Ryan are finding clams and caddisfly shells.Then Ryan brings up stuff about spadefoot toads,Ben says “But they’re impossible to find” as saying that Ben feels something in the bushes touch his feet.Then he looks at it and picks it up.Ryan ask is it a spadefoot,turns out it was just a wood frog and Ben replies with no.Now Ben is trying to get a photo with the wood frog,so he gives it to jenny and takes a photo of it.Fast forward 5 days and Ben is still taking his report,its all he can think about.Now Ben is going to take the report to Tabitha's house.Now he shows her the report on his geography.As they go into Tabitha’s large living room.He says he wants to show her his report on ecosystems.She goes over to see the report so she can read it and so he can explain it.He explains his report to her and why he did it on her vernal pool.Then Ben talks about photo he took with Ryan and Jenny with the toad.Then he shows how that is a reference to Thomas and Tabitha.Ben is now really nervous.Ben talks about Thomas and tabitha childhood with the vernal pool,She is clueless still.Now Tabitha is in shock,She realizes Ben is talking about her.Ben is sad realizing he did nothing now,Until Tabitha says she likes it,and Tabitha wants to keep it after he gives it to Ms Tibbets.Now Ben is escorted out by Tabitha.Now Ben is in school,everyone is trying to touch the frog from his project,everyone is talking about how long his project is and trying to see what its about.Now Ben turned his assignment in to Ms Kutcher and she is super happy now,Ben is happy and so is Ms kutcher
