One response to 911 that I noticed is the increased military support from civilians. I remember reading somewhere that a large percentage of Americans joined the military with "911" or something related to 911 as their reason for joining. My mom's friend's son joined the military (I think he joined the armed forces) because he had so much anger and hate for what Al-Qaeda did to America, and I guess he felt like going to war and physically fighting was his way of getting revenge.

Then there's the response to certain races/ethnicities. After 911, hatred, discrimination, and racial profiling increased-- specifically towards Muslims, Islamic and Arab Americans, etc. It didn't matter to some people that these were innocent civilians who had nothing to do with the terrorist attack-- they were automatically associated with the Islamist terrorist group and they became victims of prejudice and hate crimes.

I don't mind changes such as the increased airport security, because I think that's a good idea even if 911 never happened. But the other changes and responses, such as increased racism and hatred, are unacceptable and unfair to all those innocent people.
