Yusuke, by kitsune standards, is in his teenage years- which is over a century old, though despite this, he's sheltered. His entire life, he was mentored by Madarame- who I'm either thinking poses as a false deity while being a different type of creature, and he saw him as a father figure despite his manipulative/abusive tendencies towards Yusuke. He doesn't remember his mom, who was fairly sickly due to being inflicted by a curse, though would eventually tragically and mysteriously die while living with her own mentor, in which Madarame would take Yusuke in as his own son.

Madarame definitely used Yusuke's status as a kitsune to further his public image despite Yusuke's own scarce appearances in public, since kitsunes are definitely probably kind of glorified in the media. He never really liked it/was uncomfortable with it, but never really protested because whenever saw him Madarame would simply turn it against him.

After Madarame's "downfall", he sort of ended up on the streets- as his art school kicked him out after as well. He's not really having a time and is flatout broke since Madarame left him nothing even after his "change of heart" here.
