#Lions - I obviously don’t hate this trade, I gave it a B, but I don’t exactly love it either. It doesn’t matter, all they gave up was a conditional late round pick, but this trade really doesn’t do all that much for them. Sure, Griffen will improve an awful pass rush, and he’s not a bad veteran presence to have in the locker room. However, the Lions aren’t competing anytime soon, and Griffen is on a one year deal. They could re-sign him, but we’ll see if they do. Griffen also isn’t playing up to his usual standards at all. He’s been pretty bad so far this season, and that’s why he didn’t cost much of anything. If he continues to play like this, he probably won’t even be an upgrade over what Detroit has right now. I don’t mind this trade, but I don’t think it was a move the Lions needed to make.
#Cowboys - As I mentioned before, Griffen has not been good, and with the Cowboys having a train wreck season, shipping him off was the right thing to do. They obviously didn’t get much at all, but that’s all they were getting, and getting anything for him makes sense. They weren’t going to re-sign him, and he wasn’t even playing full time with the Cowboys having Demarcus Lawrence and Aldon Smith. Nothing much to say about this, just a decent and necessary move by Dallas.
So far this season, Everson Griffen has played in 7 games (0 starts, 281 snaps) and has 2.5 sacks, 18 total pressures, 20 tackles, 10 run stops, 3 TFLs, 6 QB hits, 1 pass defended, and a 16.7% missed tackle rate (20/24). His PFF grade is currently at a dismal 56.6.
