The Minnesota Vikings have traded EDGE Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens!‎

#Ravens - The Ravens are going all in this season, as they should. While their pass rush has been great, it definitely could’ve used some improvement, and Yannick Ngakoue certainly provides that. Of course, Ngakoue isn’t a #1 pass rusher, which is why they already have Calais Campbell. However, he is a very good #2 pass rusher, and that’s what his role is going to be in Baltimore. Yes, the Ravens have Matthew Judon, but Ngakoue is much better. Judon also is having a rough season so far. A pass rush of Campbell, Ngakoue and Judon is significantly better than a pass rush of just Campbell and Judon. This move makes a lot of sense for the Ravens, and it really didn’t cost much. I don’t think the trade itself is a steal for the Ravens, but it’s a fair price, and it’s worth it. The Ravens also have a lot of cap space for next season, so they could extend him if they choose to do so. This is definitely another great move by the Ravens, and it makes an outstanding defense even better.‎

#Vikings - When the Vikings traded for Ngakoue back in August, I thought it was a good move, and it made a lot of sense. They were trying to compete this season, and having a pass rush of just Danielle Hunter isn’t scary at all. I thought adding Ngakoue would give them that, which was much needed due to the cornerback situation. Instead, Hunter hasn’t played a snap this season, and the pass rush has been even worse than it was supposed to be with just Hunter. With no pass rush and no secondary, the Vikings have had a trainwreck season, and trading for Ngakoue looks like a terrible investment. With the Vikings having $-4M in cap space for 2021 and Anthony Harris unsigned, extending Ngakoue would’ve been impossible. They really didn’t have any choice but to trade him, and they weren’t getting more than what the Ravens gave him. It’s hard to really blame the Vikings, but the Yannick Ngakoue trade really fell apart, and it’s going to hurt.
