Harry Potter is a seemingly normal boy living with their uncles the Dursley some days before his birthday, Hogwarts magic school, starts to send letters to tell his real history and to invite to study there but his uncles do not let he read because they do nor want Harry know he is a wizard. On his birthday 11 years old a mistery man came his house, Rúbeo Hagrid, told him that he is a wizard , famous in the Wizarding World BY having survived a wizard's attack of darkness Lord Voldemort, When Harry was a baby . Voldemort killed Harry's parents , but his attack on Harry turned against Voldemort launcher lost all his powers and was reduced to a spirit , leaving ONLY A lightning-shaped scar on Harry's forehead . Hagrid reveals a Harry he was asked to join the School of Wizardry and Witchcraft of Hogwarts. AFTER buy school supplies on a street hidden wizards , Diagon Alley , Harry embarks on a 7 train to Hogwarts train through Platform 9 3/4 what was hard to find because was not a normal platform, but he meet Weasley family also wizards who helps him find the Platform 9 3/4.
On the train , Harry meets Ron Weasley , a boy of the family that helped him find the platform a large family of witches , and Hermione Granger , one born witch of Muggle parents ( non-magical ) . Upon arriving at school, the first year students are classified into four houses : Gryffindor , Hufflepuff , Ravenclaw and Slytherin . As Slytherin is known for being the home of dark wizards and witches , Harry begs the Sorting Hat do not put in Slytherin . It is placed in Gryffindor , along with Ron and Hermione .
Harry begins to learn magic and learns more about his past and his parents . Harry accidentally becomes part of the Gryffindor Quidditch team (a sport in the wizarding world where people fly on broomsticks).
One night , Harry , Ron and Hermione find a giant three-headed dog on the third floor of the school hall. The three assumes that someone is trying to pass by the dog. Harry discovers the Mirror of Erised , which shows the desire of the heart of a person. The headmaster Albus Dumbledore removes the mirror and advises Harry not to look in the mirror. Using the information that Hagrid let out , Hermione discovers that the dog is guarding the Philosopher's Stone , an item that can grant immortality to its owner. Harry concludes that his potions teacher , Severus Snape , wants to get the stone. Harry is caught out of bed at night using an invisibility cloak left to him by his father , and is sent to the detention. By helping Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest , Harry sees a hooded figure drinking the blood of a unicorn, for its healing properties. The hooded figure then attempts to attack Harry , only to be chased away by a centaur named Firenze , a close friend of Hagrid . Harry concludes that the hooded figure is Voldemort and Snape are trying to get the stone to restore Voldemort.
After hearing from Hagrid that the dog can sleep only when playing music and he revealed this to a man in a local bar , Harry , Ron and Hermione conclude that Snape was the man at the bar and try to warn Dumbledore . To know that he is on a business trip, they conclude that Snape will try to steal the stone that night and resolve to find the stone before Snape .
They face a number of obstacles : surviving a deadly plant , past hundreds of flying keys and winning a violent game of chess in full size. The trio uses his abilities to overcome obstacles . Hermione uses her knowledge of spells to pass through the plant, Harry uses his skills and finds a silver key with a broken wing and Ron uses his skill at chess to win the match . However , Ron is nearly killed in chess and Hermione stays with him as Harry goes ahead.
In the final room , Harry finds out that it was not Snape who wanted the stone , but the teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Quirrell . Quirrell reveals that he let the troll in and tried to kill Harry in the Quidditch match . He also reveals that Snape was trying to protect Harry and tried to stop Quirrell all year . Then , Professor Quirrell forces Harry to look in the Mirror of Erised . Due to an enchantment placed by Dumbledore , Harry finds the stone in his pocket, after looking in the mirror. After trying to get Harry to answer about what he saw in the mirror, Quirrell removes the turban and reveals Voldemort living in the back of his head . Harry tries to escape but Quirrell starts a fire to prevent his escape . Voldemort tries to convince Harry to give him the stone , pledging to bring his parents back from the dead , but Harry refuses. Quirrell then tries to kill him, but the touch of Harry prevents him from hurting him and causes him to turn into dust and die . When Harry gets up, Voldemort's spirit forms go through Harry , knocking him unconscious before fleeing.
Harry wakes up in the school hospital . Professor Dumbledore explains that the stone was destroyed and that Hermione and Ron are safe. Quirrell was burned at Harry's touch because , when Harry's mother died to save him , her death gave Harry a love -based protection against Voldemort. Before Harry and the rest of the students leave at the end of the school year , Harry realizes that while all other students are going home , Hogwarts is truly his
