Sind Häuser aus Pappe möglich?
An der TU Darmstadt forschen Wissenschaftler*innen an einer Möglichkeit, Häuser aus Pappe zu errichten, die ganz ohne zusätzliche Holzbeschichtungen und Schutzfolien auskommen. In München lässt ein visionärer Architekt Bäume kontrolliert so ineinander verwachsen, dass sich tragfähige Strukturen ausbilden, die Jahre später Brücken oder sogar ganze Häuser tragen sollen.
Dörthe Eickelberg und Pierre Girard besuchen in Göttingen Prof. Alireza Kharazipour, der Popcorn nicht nur als leckeren Kinosnack, sondern auch als vielseitiges Baumaterial salonfähig machen möchte. Sein Ziel: Werkstoffe aus Kunststoff so weit wie möglich durch den nachwachsenden Rohstoff Mais zu ersetzen. Die "Xenius"-Moderator*innen testen zusammen mit Prof. Kharazipour, wie stabil und hitzebeständig Popcorn ist und finden heraus, was es zu einem besseren Dämmstoff als Styropor macht.
