What Is Structural Integration?

Structural Integration is basically a form of bodywork which focuses on the fascia, or connective tissue, of the human body. Fascia surrounds muscles, tendons, arteries, veins, vessels, and nerves, holding them together while letting others simply slide over each other effortlessly. It's what holds your organs in place and lets you move consequently. When structural integration happens it allows movement in a natural manner, without the use of any muscles whatsoever. In fact, structural integration works with muscles and is often known as"muscle mimicry."

There are many techniques for structural integration, but essentially, any experienced esthetician will be able to assist you with a good version. First, you have to decide which area needs the most work, or where one or more muscles will need to be modified. For example, a cleft lip can frequently be fixed with a combination of liposuction, tissue expansion, and revision fascia. Another popular technique is a neck lift which tightens the neck skin to eliminate the bumpiness connected with loose skin. But a facelift may also achieve similar results, depending on how much extra skin you need removed.

Once you've determined which procedure is ideal for you, there are some things you should know. First of all, be sure to have yourself examined by an aesthetician. While you're there, ask questions about the procedure and find out how experienced she is. As with any procedure, a bad job may cause a bad outcome. Make certain your aesthetician is completely on board and understands the surgery you intend to get.

Another thing to know prior to undergoing structural integration is that it isn't a weight loss procedure. While it is going to make your face look visually improved (and it will!) It is going to do nothing to reduce or remove your fat. Also, structural integration cannot help people lose a lot of weight, so it is not something a patient who is just trying to get rid of extra fat should consider.

Once you've scheduled your surgery, it's important to think long and hard about whether you want to take the medication that will be prescribed following the procedure. Certain medications can have serious side effects, so it is always best to weigh the pros and cons before making a final choice. Discuss your medications with your doctor. He or she knows your medical history and can advise you whether you should be taking particular medications. Your surgeon is likely to give you more info.

Lots of people worry about the after effects of cosmetic surgery. Rest assured, most cosmetic procedures are safe. Structural integration, however, can leave you with a number of risks, including scarring, infection, delayed wound healing, or even permanent nerve damage. In fact, these dangers are greater than with most other types of surgeries. In order to prevent these risks from arising, it's important that you decide on an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience performing this type of operation.

Before scheduling structural integration, it's a good idea to meet with your surgeon to discuss your targets. You might want to achieve a particular quantity of correction or change. You might also want a more even skin tone or reduce the prominence of a specific area. If you would like a less invasive procedure, your physician may recommend liposuction instead. Discuss what your expectations are beforehand so that you will be well prepared when you go in for the treatment.

Before you choose cosmetic surgery, ensure you understand everything you are getting into. Be realistic about what you can expect before, during, and after the process. Take a look at before and after pictures to see exactly what you will be dealing with. Contact your surgeon if you have any questions.
