SariAgri - Seekor dugong terdampar ditemukan dalam keadaan mati di Pulau Bawean, Desa Kepuh Teluk, Kecamatan Tambak, Kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur. Kepala Balai Pengelolaan Sumber Daya Pesisir dan Laut (BPSPL) Denpasar, Permana Yudiarso mengatakan kejadian ini merupakan yang pertama kali dilaporkan atau diketahui.
Sebelumnya, BPSPL Denpasar mendapatkan laporan dari Perkumpulan Peduli Konservasi Pulau Bawean (Konservasi Bawean) dan Pokmaswas Hijau Daun Bawean. Laporan itu tentang seekor dugong terdampar dalam keadaan mati. Menanggapi laporan itu, Tim BPSPL Denpasar Wilayah Kerja Jatim berkoordinasi dengan pihak terkait untuk penanganannya.
“Dugong telah terdampar dalam keadaan mati sejak 16 Mei 2021 pukul 13.00 WIB. Sesuai hasil pemeriksaan dan pengukuran morfologi, dugong dengan panjang sekitar 2,5 meter berjenis kelamin jantan. Kondisinya telah membusuk (kode 4),” ujarnya, Jumat (28/5/2021).

Yudi mengatakan bangkai dugong dikuburkan tim gabungan di lokasi sekitar area Pantai Bayangkara. Tim Gabungan terdiri dari BPSPL Denpasar, Perkumpulan Konservasi Bawean, Pokmaswas Hijau Daun, Satwas PSDKP Bawean Ditjen PSDKP, BKSDA Sektor Bawean, Polair Bawean serta aparat setempat dan masyarakat sekitar.
Untuk diketahui, dugong merupakan salah satu biota langka dan dilindungi melalui Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 7 Tahun 1999 tentang Pengawetan jenis Tumbuhan dan Satwa. Peraturan itu dipertegas dengan Keputusan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Nomor 79 Tahun 2018 tentang Rencana Aksi Nasional Konservasi Mamalia Laut.
