Is Your Waterfall Pond Being Visited By Unwanted Predators?
First when it comes to the possible predators.
1. A Blue Heron might be eating your Koi. The Heron can spot lunch from 200 feet via a flight. It is a very good fisherman and will easily swoop down and spear a Koi for supper. It has long legs developed for wading in shallow water. However it can't walk inside the pond in the event the water is 3 feet. The Heron is very territorial. Once it finds a pond with fish it's going to return until each of the fish have died. Other birds for example magpies, crows, kingfishers along with other may also present a challenge.
2. Raccoons are cute but they can make a great deal of damage. Raccoons fish within the wild and mind getting their feet wet. They are night creatures and in most cases leave chaos behind together with eating your Koi.
3. Cats can be a problem for the Koi. Since they do not get inside the water and use their paw to turnover the fish out, the fish are only in danger when moving slowly or nearby the surface. That doesn't usually happen unless the fish aren't healthy or it can be cold and they've slowed down.
4. Some people think snakes are a difficulty since there is water. Statistics demonstrate that snakes rarely arrive.
5. There is one predator that people hate to consider that is certainly a person. Since the Koi can be very expensive Koi are stolen and sold.

• Use a motion sensor light to scare the raccoons away.
• Don't leave nets or other items out that a person would use to steal your Koi.
• Put locks on your own gates.
You may wish to tell everyone about your beautiful Koi. However, please be careful which team you tell and don't disclose for many years what you spent. As much as I hate to believe it, in the event the wrong person heard simply how much the Koi are worth you could be without Koi another morning.
