Notes - notes.io

discuss how people are fundamentally unable to create workable rulesets

discuss how people misunderstand definitions, and a lack of adherence to concrete standards cause conflations and makes meanings of words drift

discuss legal positivism

mention that a ack of consistency and clarity in a ruleset allows the people enforcing them to more easily get away with abuses of power, but clarify that this is much less of a concern when enforcement is only carried out by a handful of people you can keep track of, and that abuse of power in a discord server doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things

mention that having unclear rules is sort of discurtious, which might not seem important in a discord server, but actually sort of is because of the sorts of terminally online people that seek refuge in discord

-Co-Conspirator: "Hey, I'd like help coming up with ideas on how to deal with...[X]."
(quoted from the UVM 2021 "Mental Well-Being for Students" EVERг︢I training module)

I notice I get very angry when people tickle my feet

ADHD:
My ADHD was diagnosed early, and it's mild, but it is characteristic of the sort of dysfunction I experience in academic settings: namely, that I have subpar executive functioning skills, a difficult time dealing with even minor negative emotions like boredom, and a slower processing speed (due to distractibility).

Dyslexia:
My dyslexia is mild, but coupled with my ADHD, it brings my reading processing speed to about half of what it should otherwise be.

Depression:
My depression is oftentimes not much of an issue aside from my propensity to sleep a lot, but when it becomes an issue it BECOMES an issue. Historically speaking, I'll typically have bouts of debilitating, borderline-catatonic depression for a day or two, where I'm intensely anhedonic, and unable to motivate myself to even carry out tasks of basic functioning, like eating, getting dressed, or showering. When I get like this, I usually just sleep and socially withdraw with no communication. This depression often has warning signs, but can come on randomly when negative emotions are high.

Anxiety:
Usually of the free-floating variety. It's almost always there in the background, but typically manageable on its own. My anxiety level acts as a pretty good predictor for how well I'm managing overall. When the anxiety gets out of hand, the floodgates open and all the other disorders get to a place where they'll present in unmanageable ways as well.

OCD:
The second-least problematic for me, after my dyslexia. Most of the issues I have are compulsive, with the biggest issues surrounding me trying to rigidly micromanage my emotional state/physical body and hoarding. There are still areas where my OCD becomes seriously limiting in a college setting: emails and written communication are very difficult because the associated rituals make the tasks far more time-consuming than they should be, and as a consequence I'll often avoid written communications altogether; my perfectionism also makes it such that I have a difficult time with turning in assignments that I feel are incomplete or sub-par, and a hard time going to class when I feel unprepared or am worried I might arrive late. The OCD only becomes a substantial emotional issue when my anxiety is bad.

Yes;
I've worked with many providers in the past from audiologists (my ADHD was mistaken for a hearing issue), to psychologists. To list them all would be unnecessarily exhaustive. Currently the only providers I'd seeing are:
My PCP: Dr. Keith W. Michl (802-362-5895)
Psychiatrist: Dr. Elliott B. Martin (617-243-6434)

Yes;
- 225 mg of Effexor XR (venlafaxine) ℞, daily
- aerosolized levalbuterol ℞, PRN (for asthma)
- 1 mg Finasteride USP ℞, daily (for hairloss-prevention)
I also take a handful of nutritional supplements.

Other than when they mix with alcohol, the only effects my meds have is that they work pretty well. However, the withdrawal sets in quickly, and this has ben an issue in the past after running out of supply and not being able to get a refill in time. The withdrawal effects hit about a day after I stop taking the medicine, and include heavy vertigo, irritability, depression, and otherw
