Expressionist Architecture
Expressionist architecture is an artistic architectural movement that began in the early twentieth century in parallel to the art and visual arts. It was developed as a result of the modernization and rapid urbanization that was taking place in European cities at that time. The movement set out to create an art or design for buildings, spaces and structures. Expressionist architecture is distinguished by its boldness, unconventional shapes and use of unusual materials. They also do not have a traditional organization.

Expressionist architecture draws heavily on painting and sculpture. It is crucial to remember that expressionism is not referring to the design or structure of buildings, but rather to how people view the environment. This was in stark contrast to traditionalism which valued uniformity and strict formality. Expressionist architects tried to add an objectivity to architecture by removing from the ornamentation and layering present in older styles of architecture. They sought to create a fundamental change in the appearance and feel of buildings by removing ornamentation, color schemes, and other elements.

In the age of Expressionism, the major contribution of the architects who worked with this style of architecture could be said to be a given. They not only gave new shapes and colors to the structures already in existence, but also helped to create new designs. In both exterior and interior design expressionism had a positive impact on the designers.

Expressionist architecture is distinguished by an abundance of round forms, irregular surfaces and distinctive materials. The use of new materials and new ways of styling resulted in an aesthetic sweep and a sense of novelty. This resulted in an end to the traditional style that was followed by the old architects who believed in rigid and unsymmetrical designs and forms. The main reason behind the creation of modern architecture was to remove all vestiges of the old traditionalism and put in the innovative designs of the present. One of the most well-known features of expressionist architecture is its utilization of colors.

tonsilparchitect is said to be influenced by color. The adherents of this movement affirm that the movement was born in the hope of finding an answer to the issue of boredom which they had to face in the modern era. Others say that Expressionism was created out of a desire for new and exciting styles of art. Whatever the reason the influence of this movement is undeniable. Modern designers and architects have attempted to incorporate aspects of expressionism into their work.

Many of the artists of the time found the expressionist style attractive. Particularly, Gazing was very popular among the artists, and this contributed greatly to the success of the movement. The most well-known member of this school was the Viennese artist, Peter Eisenman, who was to play an important role in introducing a variety of ways to eschew artistic dogma in the planning and construction of new houses and buildings. Even though they were not part of the design process Other artists like Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier and Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe were often able to produce astonishing results.

Expressionist architecture began its rise to fame in the German capital city, which is the place the term is usually used today. In the beginning, Expressionist architecture was only popular in Germany. Cities like Tubingen and Worms only had a few constructions compared to other parts. In the following years however, this region began to attract art enthusiasts from all across Europe as well as the United States. The style became a symbol of both American and European idealism. This style was adopted by a number of artists in the United State like Jasper Johns and Van Gogh.

Expressionist architecture is still enjoying a huge popularity today because of its simplicity, unique style, freshness, strength, and its capacity to trigger a variety of complex emotional reactions. It is distinctive in that it is based on the personal experience of the artist who designed it. It is a personal aesthetic. Expressionist artists refer to their process in a way that is both explicit and implicitly as an experience that is 'inside'. Every design and creation is therefore an expression of the artist's inner experience. And this truth is represented in every single aspect of the work.
