Concrete Construction and Lift Drawings
Concrete Construction and Lift Drawings

Concrete is used in a variety of applications where strength and cost are paramount. It is used in road building, patios and even sidewalks and drives. Concrete is a mixture of cement and sand that when hardened becomes durable enough to support a great deal of weight. Its flexibility also allows it to be made into the various types of structures we see around us including buildings and bridges. The following paragraphs will introduce you to some of the most common concrete uses as well as a brief history of concrete and why it has become so widely used.

Concrete has been used as the main material for structural steel since the 1930's. But over time, several different synthetic materials have been developed to fill the need for sturdier and more fire resistant structures. Among the most popular concrete construction materials today is Portland cement. The use of Portland cement as a mix for constructing commercial and residential buildings is increasing as developers seek to avoid the expense and environmental impact associated with using traditional reinforced concrete.

Concrete is formed by the combination of coarse and fine aggregate materials such as gravel, sand, and cement. When mixed and hardened it takes on various forms depending on the properties of the aggregates and the natural environment in which they are located. The forms can be quite varied, and it is this wide variation in fireworks that makes concrete construction so versatile. One of the most common forms works well in both indoor and outdoor structures and is referred to as Portland cement. Portland cement is formed by combining fine aggregate material with water and breaking up and combining these two materials through a process called flash drying. After this process has been completed the resulting concrete slab is very sturdy and long lasting.

In both industrial and residential settings, concrete construction is achieved through poured forms or pours. Poured forms are large sheets of concrete that are stacked one on top of the other and placed in a factory setting to dry. Once dry the poured concrete forms are ready for use in either interior or exterior applications. When concrete is poured, it is first milled to achieve the desired size and shape and then cured to make it hard enough to withstand the weight of the underlying material when it is poured. http://www.vipremiumcontracting.com/nanaimo-concrete/ is then reinforced by concrete wedges before it is exposed to the formation of either concrete slabs or shoring forms. A concrete member is any pre-existing structural member that serves to reinforce the strength of the concrete.

After concrete construction is complete a new building must be erected to support the structure, and the building is often reinforced with steel columns. The column is commonly positioned inside the perimeter wall, where it acts as the anchor for the entire perimeter wall. Other types of concrete construction include piers, which are used to hold up the roof system and are typically poured on the ground floor or first floor.

Concrete placement is often done on the ground floor or first floor of an apartment. This is because most basements are straight and therefore do not have steep sides or corners. In concrete construction the edge of the bugle is placed toward the center of the building. Once the concrete has been poured, it is left to set overnight. Most residential buildings are set in concrete soil but older structures may be built in asphalt or clay so the contractor may suggest an alternate placement if this is the case.

After the concrete has been poured, the next step is to set up the Bimini and pour the cement mixture over the top of the Bimini. After the Bimini is set the engineers will then pour the top coating of super-fine aggregate over the Bimini and also to the sides of the frame. Finally, after the structure has been allowed to dry for about three weeks the exterior stucco is applied to the frame and smoothed with rollers. Most commercial grade commercial buildings are constructed using this method of construction.

For those building a single story the exterior stucco can be laid to a particular shape and height after it has been set. There may also be times when the bimini is not sufficient to support the extra weight. In this case the engineer may include a "deck system" which is composed of metal posts which are placed on top of the Bimini to reinforce the strength of the structure.
