عندما وصلت للمخرج، فوجئت بتيار مائي يدفعها بشدة نحو الأمام، ولم تستعد إدراكها إلا وهي تنحدر مع مياه االشلال نحو البحيرة، حيث شرعت في تحريك يديها ورجليها بكل ما بقي لها من طاقة، آملةٍ الوصول إلى اليابسة التي لم تستطع رؤيتها؛ لشدة سطوع ضوء الشمس.
- بعد يومين-
استيقظت صفاء منذ خمس دقائق، إلا أنها لم تتحرك حتى الآن، شعرت بأن جسدها يتمرد آبياً التحرّك، بينما كان الجوع يعصر معدتها الخاوية.
تمكنت أخيراً من السيطرة على جسدها، وبينما حركت أول عضلة لتنهض، طعنتها الآلام في كل جزء من جسدها، بينما طارت الطيور التي كانت تجلس على الأشجار المجاورة هلعةً لشدة صراخها.
غطى اللون الأحمر ساقها اليسرى، إذ كانت الدماء متجلطة فوقها، لقد نزفت الكثير من الدماء، لكنها -لحسن الحظ- لا تزال على قيد الحياة.
