Postmodern Architectural Styles
Postmodern architecture arrived on the scene in the 1960s with a roar and a smooch. With striking, bold colors intricate geometric designs, and various textures and materials, Postmodern buildings are easy to recognize not just by their distinctive design traits but also by their strict geometric, almost philosophical shapes. His designs for residential and commercial projects resulted into some of the earliest single-family detached homes that we have come to associate with this style. One of his most notable accomplishments was the transformation of the warehouse into a tri-level which was designed so that every level could be reached with a staircase. While this project was not completed, the skyway concept became very popular and eventually came to include skywalks in airports, shopping malls and other areas that are accessible to the public.

Postmodern architecture can take on various styles. Here are a few of the most well-known. Frank Lloyd Wright, an architect, employed the low-roofed box to great effect when he built the Hampton Bay Apartments. These six-story box-shaped structures had six stories.
