Podcast Marketing How Good Are You Implementing This Powerful Marketing Strategy
Each day usually is ended with the exact same question. Prospects and clients frequently ask us "How do I increase the size of my business and increase my fair share of market share?" Our answer is rather simple "Build yourself a foundation of prospects and build that pipeline relentlessly and efficiently."
A huge tip I'm going to give you when you go through my brief synopsis todayis to learn how to become a successful PodCaster as you watch your bottom-line fly skyward!

Over the last decade, the Internet has provided a number of revolutionary marketing tools. From e-zine publishing to distribution straight through to more powerful methods of optimizing your search engine.

As a television and radio broadcaster/marketing consultant, I have had the sincere pleasure of understanding just how important both the radio and television marketing methods are to businesses and individuals in getting the word out to their prospective audience.

Our weekly radio show online, Net Talk Radio has been well-received by listeners as well as advertisers. I'm sure I've been aware that with time, increased the speed of connectivity and handheld devices would eventually enable an increased audience reach.

The day has finally come!

Though we started using our online radio format several years ago, we are now in a position to enhance the experience by allowing our listeners to almost effortlessly download our show (information and even entertainment) directly to their iPod and iRiver devices. Our audience is now able to listen whenever and wherever "they" like. Plus, as an added-value benefit for us as well as our valued advertisers, we track every hit (listener) all day long for about the cost of the cost of a cup of coffee! This is all possible by using one of the most advanced audio/blogging technology, commonly known as "PodCasting".

Anyone can do this!

First, what exactly is podcasting?

Podcasting is a concept that came up as a novel way to describe the technology that is used to distribute (share) audio content from web sites down to the users (clients) of the content. They typically listen to it through the iPod (hence the term "pod") as well as any .mp3 player (iRiver) at their command, convenience and control.

PodCasting is similar to the concept of time-shifted video applications and devices like TiVo. podcast bookmarking service let you see exactly what you want to when you want it by simply recording and storing video, but PodCasting is primarily used for audio that is up-to-date. (Universal streaming of video is most likely in the near future.) After that, I'll describe, however, how this emerging and simple technology can be used for pushing (deploy) any type of file like photos (images) and video, software updates, or text.

PodCasting utilizes an XML-based technology known as RSS (Real Simple Syndication). Content producers (PodCasters) explain the latest content using An XML RSS file which includes dates titles, descriptions, as well as specific links to .mp3 files. This "automatically" created file is known as an RSS feed. Dave Winer is considered by many to be the inventor of RSS and also a pioneer in the environment of applied XML. The component to making PodCasting function with RSS involves "enclosures" (remember that term) An element that is that is supported by RSS 2.0.

As a consumer or an end-user, you simply run an "aggregator" (remember this word as well) application like Adam Curry's iPodder on MTV installed on your personal computer, which lets you easily subscribe to RSS feeds. Software like Adam's can either by schedule or by random design download the RSS files, and check to see if any fresh information is in. If new content exists and the audio files are instantly downloaded and saved to an appropriate folder (of your choice) in your computer's hard drive or directly transferred to your mp3 player.

I used an asterisk as noted above to make this extremely honest and often painful disclaimer. In my statement that "Anyone is able to do this", I should more accurately state, "Anyone that properly learns (from an authentic professional) and activates their own PodCast process can take advantage of BIGGER numbers by creating and nurturing their own emerging community. For a business owner who is online, this is a huge benefit and must be done! This solution for marketing will not only help you become financially secure, it can even make you an "STAR"!

Installing The PodCast Magic Into Your Arsenal

Here is a list of tasks to complete to prepare for your first PodCast presentation.

1. Do some research on the PodCast component.

Find out the details of what PodCasting is about and how it works. I recommend visiting http://www.google.com and typing, "PodCast Radio" into the search field.

2. Physically Search For Only The Real Professionals

Make a list of PodCasters who are certain of what they are doing. Align your yourself with only the top. From this list, you can call them via phone and pick their brain(s). If you are unable to locate any actual phone number for contact, I strongly urge you to wipe them off your list. You'd like to do business with those that are committed to "touching" their clients with more intimacy and one-to-one personalization instead of just an email. Rememberthat you are looking for a friend. A mentor. Not necessarily someone to make money and then be off. A solid collaboration (friendship) is the goal here.

3. Discover Your Passion

What passion do you share with others? What true value will your customers gain from your work? Who is your target audience? Be aware of your "WHY"!

4. Develop Your Plan & Work Your Process

What do you need to be able to learn? What is it that you must do? What time frame will you be readyfor? Who will give you the help you require to implement your plan. What equipment is required?

5. Start Your Podcast!

When you embark on your "new-to-you" adventure, don't expect total perfection in the beginning. Be patient with yourself and realize that you'll evolve. All of us started at square one. I'm sure you've seen my first aircheck on radio during my initial radio gig in Bakersfield, California. I sounded exactly like someone who was a bumbling knucklehead. :-) The right amount of effort and dedication can make you sound near perfect, but keep it in perspective and allow yourself the time to improve.

Take a listen and connect with other Pro-PodCasters. Listen to neighborhood radio stations. Read books and articles such as this one on a daily basis. (I do it all the time!)

6. Finally... No Excuses!

If you "really" desire to crank up the intensity of your marketing efforts, PodCasting gives you the significant marketing advantage.

Be aware of this...

People will talk about it, but will never make their decision.

On the other hand, can accept no excuses, and begin working on your very first PodCast immediately! (At the very minimum take the time to put PodCasting up near the top of "TO-DO" to-do" list!

In closing today...

I have illustrated only a fraction of what is required to know before you go piling into your PodCast venture full speed ahead. You must be aware of and experiment with all angles of marketing when it comes to producing an on-going income-generating PodCast production that you want the world to hear and listen!

Thank you for your support!
