Podcast Marketing How Good are You Implementing This Defintive Marketing Method
Every day begins and concludes with the same question. Prospects and clients are constantly asking us "How can I grow my business while capturing my fair share of the market?" Our answer is straightforward "Build yourself a base of potential customers and then work the pipeline continuously and effectively."
One tip I'm willing to share with you as you read my short synopsis today, learn how to become an effective PodCaster while watching your bottom line soar!

Over the last decade, the Internet has created many new revolutionary marketing tools. From e-zine publishing to distribution straight through to more prominent search engine optimization practices.

As a television and radio broadcaster/marketing consultant, I have had the sincere pleasure of understanding just how important both the radio and television marketing methods are to businesses and individuals in getting the word out to their prospective audience.

Our radio show on the internet, Net Talk Radio has been very well received by listeners as well as advertisers. I guess I always knew that as time passed, increasing the speed of connectivity and handheld devices would eventually enable a more expansive target audience reach.

The day is finally here!

Though we started using our online radio format years ago, we're now able to sweeten the pie by allowing our listeners virtually download our program (information or entertainment) directly onto their iPod and iRiver devices. Our listeners can now listen to the show wherever and whenever "they" would like to. Plus, as an added-value advantage to us and our valued advertisers, we're able to monitor every click (listener) throughout the day at the expense of one cup of coffee! We accomplish this using one of the leading audio/blogging technologies, often referred to as "PodCasting".

PodCast Marketing: *Anyone is able to do this!

First, what exactly is podcasting?

Podcasting is a term came up as a novel way to define the technology utilized to deliver (share) audio content from websites to the consumers (clients) of the content, who typically listen to it through an iPod (hence the word "pod") and any type of .mp3 player (iRiver) at their command comfort and convenience.

PodCasting is in a way similar to the concept of time-shifted videos devices and software like TiVo that let you watch what you want exactly when you want it by simply recording and storing videos, except that PodCasting is primarily used for audio up to date. (Universal video deployment is likely to be just around the corner.) With that stated I should clarify, however, that this new and easy-to-use technology can be used for pushing (deploy) any type of file , including images (images) or software updates, videos and/or text.

PodCasting utilizes an XML-based technology known as RSS (Real Simple Syndication). Publishers of content (PodCasters) describe the latest content using An XML RSS file which includes dates titles, descriptions, and specifics links to the .mp3 files. This "automatically" generated file is often referred to as an RSS feed. Dave Winer is considered by many to be the creator of RSS and an innovator in the field of applied XML. The key element that makes PodCasting be compatible with RSS includes "enclosures" (remember that term) which is a feature used with RSS 2.0.

As a consumer or an end-user, you simply run an "aggregator" (remember that word also) program like Adam Curry's iPodder on MTV on your personal computer which allows you to sign up to RSS feeds. Applications like Adam's operate by schedule or by random design, download the RSS filesand then check to see if new information is in. If the content is updated, the audio files are immediately downloaded and stored in an appropriate folder (of your preference) in your computer's hard disk or directly routed to your MP3 player.

I utilized an asterisk like noted above to make this very honest and often painful-to-some disclaimer. When I said that "Anyone could do this" I would more accurately state, "Anyone that properly learns (from an actual professional) and implements themselves through their PodCast process can profit from larger numbers by developing as well as nurturing and sustaining their thriving community. For a business owner who is online, this is HUGE and required! This strategy for marketing won't only help you become financially secure and profitable, but it can also transform you into an "STAR"!

Installing The PodCast Magic Into Your Arsenal

Here's a checklist of things you can do to prepare yourself to present your very first PodCast presentation.

1. Do some research on the PodCast component.

Find out the specifics of what PodCasting is and how it works. I recommend visiting http://www.google.com and typing, "PodCast Radio" into the search field.

2. Physically Search Out Only The Professionals You Believe In. Professionals

Make a list of PodCasters who have proven to be experts in what they are doing. Make sure you are aligned with the most reliable. From this list, call them via phone and listen to the brain(s). If podcast bookmarking service are unable find an actual telephonic point of contact, I strongly suggest you to eliminate them from your list. You should be doing business with businesses that believe in "touching" their market with more personalization and intimacy rather than just an email. Remember, you're looking for a friend. A mentor. Not necessarily someone to make money and then be off. A strong relationship (friendship) is your objective here.

3. Discover Your Passion

What is your love for sharing with others? What are the most valuable things your audience glean from you? Who is your audience? Know Your "WHY"!

4. Develop Your Plan & Work Your Process

What do you have to master? What do you have to do? What date do you have to be able to meet? Who will provide the assistance you need in order to achieve your goal. What equipment is needed?

5. Start Your Podcast!

As you roll out the doors of your "new-to-you" adventure Don't expect perfection the first day. Be kind to yourself and be aware that you'll evolve. We all started from square one. You've heard my first radio air check during my initial radio gig located in Bakersfield, California. I sounded just like someone who was a bumbling knucklehead. :-) The right amount of training and determination can bring you nearly perfect, but take your time and give yourself time to improve.

Connect to Pro-PodCasters. Listen to your nearby radio station. Read articles and books such as this one on a daily basis. (I do this every day!)

6. Finally... There are no excuses!

If you "really" would like to turn up the intensity of your marketing campaigns, then PodCasting can give you a significant marketing advantage.

Be aware of this...

Some will discuss it, but never take their decision.

On the other hand, will except no feeble excuses and get started on your first PodCast immediately! (At the very minimum ensure that you move PodCasting towards the top of your "TO-DO" list!

Today, in closing...

I've illustrated just some of the things you should know before you begin your PodCast project full-on. Be sure to identify and explore all aspects of marketing prior to putting together an ongoing, money-generating PodCast production that you want the world to hear and be aware!

We wish you a Happy and a Proud PodCast!
