Podcast Marketing: How Effectively are You Implementing This Defintive Marketing Method
Each day usually ends with the same BIG question. Our clients and potential clients are constantly asking us "How do I improve my business and gain my fair share of market share?" Our answer is very simple "Build yourself a base of potential customers and then work the pipeline constantly and efficiently."
One big tip I can offer you as take a look at my brief synopsis of today, is to discover how you can become an effective PodCaster while watching your bottom-line fly skyward!

In the last decade, the Internet has provided a number of breakthrough marketing mediums. From successful ezine publishing and distribution right through to more prominent search engine optimization practices.

As a television and radio broadcaster/marketing consultant, I have had the sincere pleasure of understanding just how important both the radio and television marketing methods are to businesses and individuals in getting the word out to their prospective audience.

Our radio show on the internet, Net Talk Radio has been received very well amongst listeners as well as advertisers. I'm sure I've been aware that over time, faster connectivity speeds and portable hand-held devices would allow for an expanded target audience reach.

The day has finally come!

Even though we started using our online talk radio format a few years back, we're being able to make it more enjoyable by allowing listeners to almost effortlessly download our show (information or entertainment) straight into their iPod and iRiver platforms. podcast bookmarking service can now listen wherever and whenever "they" want to. Plus, as an added-value advantage to us and our valuable advertisers, we can track every single hit (listener) throughout the day at the expense of the cost of a cup of coffee! We accomplish this with the help of one of today's most advanced audio/blogging technology, commonly called "PodCasting".

PodCast Marketing: *Anyone Can Do This!

The first question is: What is podcasting?

Podcasting is a term was invented as a new way to define the technology that is that is used to distribute (share) audio files from websites to the consumers (clients) of the content, who generally listen to it through the iPod (hence the word "pod") as well as any .mp3 player (iRiver) with their own choice, convenience and control.

PodCasting is similar to the concept of time-shifted video devices such as TiVo. These devices let you watch what you want exactly at the time you want it, by simply recording and saving video, but PodCasting is mostly used for audio-based content to date. (Universal video deployment is most likely coming in the near future.) As such, I'll explain, however, that this easy to use emerging technology can be used to transfer (deploy) any kind of files, such as photographs (images) or videos, software updates and/or text.

PodCasting makes use of an XML-based system known as RSS (Real Simple Syndication). Content producers (PodCasters) explain new content in the form of an XML RSS file which includes dates and descriptions, titles, and links to specific .mp3 files. This "automatically" generated file is referred to as the RSS feed. Dave Winer is considered by many to be the creator of RSS and also a pioneer in the environment of applied XML. The key element that makes PodCasting be compatible with RSS includes "enclosures" (remember that word), an element that is supported with RSS 2.0.

As a consumer or an end-user it is easy to run the "aggregator" (remember that term as well) application like Adam Curry's iPodder from MTV on your personal computer that allows you to easily subscribe to RSS feeds. The programs like Adam's work according to a set schedule or random design, download the RSS files, and then check to see if new content is available. If any new content is available, the audio files are immediately downloaded and stored in the appropriate folder (of your preference) to your drive or directly routed to your MP3 player.

I utilized an asterisk like noted above to make this very honest and often painful-to-some disclaimer. If I had said "Anyone Can Do This" I would more precisely say, "Anyone that properly learns (from an experienced professional) and activates your own PodCast process can profit from more people by building as well as nurturing and sustaining their growing community. As a web-based business owner, this is huge and necessary! This solution for marketing will not only make you financially solvent and profitable, but it can also transform you into the "STAR"!

Fitting The PodCast Magic In Your Arsenal

Here's a list of things you can do to prepare to present your very first PodCast presentation.

1. Study The PodCast Element

Learn precisely what PodCasting is about and how it works. I recommend visiting http://www.google.com and typing, "PodCast Radio" into the search field.

2. Physically Search For Only The True Professionals

Make a list of PodCasters who have proven to be experts in what they're doing. Align your yourself with only the top. From this list, you can call them by phone and ask them to pick your brain(s). If you can't find an actual telephone point of contact, I strongly urge you to eliminate them off your list. You should be doing business with businesses that believe in "touching" their clients with more personalization and intimacy instead of just sending an email. Remember, you're seeking a partner. A mentor. Not necessarily someone to make money and then be off. A solid partnership (friendship) is the aim here.

3. Find Your Passion

What is your passion that you share with other people? What is the real value your followers learn from you? Who is your target audience? Know Your "WHY"!

4. Develop Your Plan & Work Your Process

What are you required to learn? What do you have to do? What is the date you will be able to meet? Who will offer you the assistance you need to implement your plan. What equipment will you need?

5. Start Your Podcast!

When you embark on your "new-to-you" adventure, don't expect total perfection the first day. Be patient with yourself and realize that you'll evolve. All of us started at scratch. I'm sure you've seen my first aircheck on radio from my first radio gig at Bakersfield, California. I sounded exactly like the bumbling knucklehead. :-) Enough effort and dedication can make you sound near perfect, but take your time and allow yourself the time to develop.

Connect to Pro-PodCasters. Listen to nearby radio station. Read articles and books like this one on a daily basis. (I do it everyday!)

6. Finally... There are no excuses!

If you "really" would like to turn up the intensity of your marketing, PodCasting can provide you with a huge advantage in the marketing.

Be aware of this...

Some will discuss it, but they will never actually make their move.

On the other hand, should make no excuses at all and start started on your first PodCast right away! (At the very least, be sure to move PodCasting up near the top of your "TO-DO" list!

In closing today...

I've only illustrated the basics is required to know before you begin your PodCast endeavor full steam ahead. Make sure to recognize and experiment with all angles of marketing when it comes to creating a continuous revenue-generating PodCast production for the entire world to hear and be aware!

Happy PodCast Marketing!
