How To Podcast Using WordPress
The next step is podcasting. It's the step up from blogging. While blogging is carried out by an army of pajama-clad people, podcasting is performed by many of these same individuals, but less often in pajamas using a digital and audio recorder. The podcasts are recorded in short chunks, later distributed via RSS 2.0 and Atom to their websites usually a blog. Viewers and listeners are able to download podcasts through podcast clients. A reliable podcast client (for example, Juice, CastPodder, or iTunes) will allow you to join the RSS/Atom feed of your favorite podcasters and instantly download the content onto your computer or a portable audio player when new podcasts are released.
Most podcasters create their content in MP3 or MP4 audio or video files and upload them, including the link to the file in a blog post. Users click on the link to download the content even if they're not subscribed automatically to the RSS/Atom feed. The challenge has never been getting the content to the website but rather getting the content to work through feed systems. WordPress typically will automatically add new podcasting data in your RSS/Atom feeds. This makes it easy for you to deliver content and for your users to sign up to that content.

For most users, WordPress 1.5 and above will podcast conveniently and instantly. If you embed the audio file within your WordPress article using the full URL address, it automatically incorporates it into the feed of RSS/Atom, making it a podcast. Make sure you use a full address:

Wrong: My podcast

Right: My podcast

Your final step is to include the URL to your RSS/Atom feed on your page. By default, feeds will be on the bottom the WordPress page. The link should look something like this when you're using the RSS feed:

Podcast Bookmarking Service

In the earlier versions of WordPress the automated links functioned for posts only, not in static websites. Since WordPress requires exact information on file size, if you change the file linked to, you must be certain to republish the post with the link. When you've connected to an image which in any way is not fully accessible from your blog or podcast, your podcast will not function properly when it's finished because WordPress won't have the correct information about the size of the file.

For Apache servers as well as other servers which utilize the .htaccess fileformat, you'll need the addition of a directive the configuration files or .htaccess file to allow the server to recognize podcast media files (m4a and M4b) correctly. You can simply add this line to the file you use:
