Mandrake adalah tanaman yang jika kita sentuh akan menjerit (berteriak). Mandrake yang masih bayi jeritannya tidak terlalu parah, jika kita tidak menggunakan earmuffs maka kita akan pingsan. Sebaliknya, jeritan mandrake dewasa bisa berakibat fatal, orang yang mendengarnya akan tewas seketika. Memelihara Mandrake memerlukan beberapa bulan lamanya, biasanya bisa sampai satu musim (sekitar 3-4 bulan). Mandrake bisa memiliki sifat seperti manusia. Saat usia dewasa nanti, mandrake akan bersifat moody dan tertutup. Mandrake sendri adalah makanan favorit dari Dugbog dan Siput-pemakan daging. Di dunia muggle, Mandrake yg mengandung zat Hyoscyamine Scolopamine dan mandragorin sering digunakan sebagai obat penghilang rasa sakit (pain-killer) dan penenang (sedative)
